Sample Custom Monitoring Solutions Project
Overview
We were engaged by a global telecommunications company to develop transactional and master data exception based monitoring reports using the following standard SAP functionality:
InfoSets and InfoSet Queries
Transaction Drill Down
Job Scheduling
SAP Office email distribution lists
The developed solution enabled the exception reports to be emailed to control owners periodically based on frequency requirements (daily, monthly, etc.), allowed for drilling down to the source documents in SAP, and provided control owners with the capability of documenting the remediation plan or rational for the exception on the source document.
Outcome
The Company now enjoys an automated solution for monitoring transactional and master data exceptions which increased productivity and reduced cost associated with compliance.
Sample Configuration Monitoring Project
Overview
We were engaged by a global restaurant chain to develop monitoring routines which identified change to configurable controls. ABAP programs were used to identify changes to SAP Objects related to key SOX controls that were previously base-lined for SOX testing purposes. The programs queried transport request tables and change log tables and identified objects such as custom programs, custom function modules, and SAP configuration tables that were changed after the base-line test occurred. Only the SOX Controls with objects that changed are required to be retested for SOX purposes.
Outcome
The Company has experienced significant cost savings associated with Sarbanes Oxley compliance initiatives based on the implemented configuration monitoring solution. Instead of having to testing SAP application controls continuously, the organization has altered the testing scope to be based on the changes on the controls configuration.
