Sample SAP Security Role Design Project
Overview
We were engaged by the world’s leading meter manufacture to design and configure SAP security roles which were free from segregation of duty violations. Leveraging Sunera’s segregated role design methodology, we designed roles which met the organizations compliance initiatives, configured composite roles related to the users job responsibilities which were free from any segregation of duties violations, developed a provisioning strategy base on job responsibilities, and transitioned the user base to the new role design without impacting day-to-day business transactions. In addition and as a result of segregated role design methodology, we were able to complete the design, all necessary testing, and assign the roles to the approximate 400 user within a productive environment within a month.
Outcome
The Company now enjoys a role design which is free from segregation of duties violations. In addition, the role design has become the standard for future role outs saving the organization thousands of development hours. Furthermore, Sunera continues to assist the organization with supporting future “Go Lives.”
International SAP Security Role Design
Overview
We were engaged by a chemical manufacturer with operations global to design and implement SAP security roles across the entire organization in a limited time period. In addition, to meeting the organizations “Go Live” dates, we were required to ensure that Sarbanes-Oxley risk were mitigated. These included segregation of duties and the assignment of excessive access privileges. Utilizing Sunera’s segregated role design methodology, we designed and implemented security roles within SAP for the organizations 4000 person user group which were based throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America. In addition to successfully deploy security roles across the organization on time and within budget, we were retained to provide additional “Go Live” support for the organization. Furthermore, we installed and implemented SAP GRC within the organization and incorporated the solution into the organizations provisioning processes.
Outcome
The Company now enjoys a role design which is free from segregation of duties violations and simpler to maintain. We also effectively reduced the segregation of duties violations within the organization to an acceptable number which were justified by the business. In addition, the project was delivered on time and within budget.
